The law provides for mandatory labels on clothing. They are designed to allow the customer to choose better product. But there are also optional terms, as the care label, whose absence should alert ...
To choose a garment, it is not enough to examine it from every angle. It must also have certain information, provided by the labels. It is legal for the conclusion of the sale, on a label in the store. Further information on the intrinsic quality of the product are provided by the label sewn inside the garment.
The mandatory posting Store: Price Apparel
To enforce the law, any store that offers clothing for sale must prominently display the price. The client should know the price of an item without having to ask a seller. Similarly, the price quoted should be clear and precise and include all charges (price). And when a garment is placed in the window, its price must be visible from the outside. During the sales period, the label must always refer to the old price. We can then make labels by crossing the old price and noting near the new price. But it may also indicate only the old price and mention the discount rate applicable on hand (-30% for example). Finally, a special case, used clothing must be clearly identified as such.
The composition of textile obligatory mention of the label
Regarding the label sewn inside the garment, the only obligation is to show the composition of textiles. It must be written in the language of the country of sale. For example, a product manufactured in China but sold in France must be labeled in French. The only exception is for used clothing, for which it is assumed that the composition of the textile is not mandatory. The composition of textiles should not only list the various textile fibers comprising the garment, but also the percentage of each. The designations "100%" pure "or" all "are reserved for products containing only a single textile fiber. If a fiber reaches more than 85% of the total, it is possible not to mention the other components. Similarly, up to 10% of the composition of the textile can be covered by the phrase "other fibers", without further detail.
The optional indications on the label
Apart from these compulsory, labels can include many other optional terms. There is usually a care label, sewn inside the garment. It shows in the form of symbols, the manufacturer's recommendations for washing, treatment with bleach, ironing, dry cleaning and drying in a tumble dryer. Finally, the size and origin of the garment may be provided, both on the inside label on store labels.
